I keep coming back to this pix as, on one hand, it's a glorious sunset taken with an antique 16mm Nikkor lens using the red filter, on the other, a view of a possible end of the world as Trump's wobbly speech created more questions than answers in terms of how to get out of Trump's war in one piece as the alternative is most disquieting indeed.

Scenarios

Yours truly has a bad feeling about the possibility of boots on the ground. Trump said nothing of value in his shaky speech. Just a rough timeline and channeling Curtis Lemay, Bomb Iran back to the stone age as "they deserve it" With this in mind, Hegseth and Miller will egg him on regarding boots in saying You have no grumba, no spine. You gotta take care of business Mr. President. Hope the god I'm wrong but a friend of mine, who was a tunnel rat in Nam, thinks it's going to happen. If so, two scenarios,  maybe 3.

1. Iran waits and lets them in, along the lines of Iwo, but unlike the Japanese, Iran is not cornered. Once the contingent is in, Iran simply states, we now have hostages. You want them back, you leave the Middle East. 
2. Iran executes the kill zone and a possibility WW III begins as Iran will go all out and take out Israel's desalination plants and Israel evokes the Sampson Option in reaponse.
3. The only other possibility is ... the military refuses to go in as any competent military operative knows this is a suicide mission.

The Samson Option (Hebrew: ברירת שמשון, romanized: b'rerat shimshon) is a deterrence strategy

of massive retaliation with nuclear weapons as a "last resort" against any country whose military
has invaded and/or destroyed much of Israel.[1] 

According to the biblical narrative, Samson died when he grasped two pillars of
the Temple of Dagon, and "bowed himself with all his might" (Judges 16:30, KJV).
