Open source is definitely taking off. One can see this with Firefox, the browser that properly displays content at the level of wonderful IE 6 & 7. With it's adherence to open standards like XML, XUL and Java, it's no wonder Firefox is beginning to become a viable option to IE, especially when considering the security issues surrounding Outlook, Microsoft's e-mail equivalent of the Petri Dish for viruses.
