137 ... a most mysterious number ... 

In physics, the fine-structure constant, also known as the Sommerfeld constant, commonly denoted by α (the Greek letter alpha), is a fundamental physical constant that quantifies the strength of the electromagnetic interaction between elementary charged particles.

It is a dimensionless quantity (dimensionless physical constant), independent of the system of units used, which is related to the strength of the coupling of an elementary charge e with the electromagnetic field.

In this Feynman diagram, an electron (e−) and a positron (e+) annihilate, producing a photon (γ, represented by the blue sine wave) that becomes a quark–antiquark pair (quark q, antiquark q̄), after which the antiquark radiates a gluon (g, represented by the green helix).

Why all this palaver? Well, the number 137 is akin to Borges' The Aleph as it is a point in space that contains all other points. Anyone who gazes into it can see everything in the universe from every angle simultaneously, without distortion, overlapping, or confusion. 

137 is the same thing but why just photons as gravitons and gluons also travel at the speed of light
and all interact with their elementary charged particles as needs warrant. If so, shouldn't the 137 methodology also apply but keyed to their specific characteristics?

To whit but a brief segue is required before talking about this crazy conjecture.

Back in 2012, yours truly talked about time, entanglement and the quantum foam in a piece titled Entanglement, the Link to Forever, stating that time may be a temporary arrangement of the quantum foam as said foam would be timeless but artifacts like protons, neutrons and sub atomic particles coming out of it would be but temporary arrangements of the QF, thus experiencing the notion of time. Well, it seems researchers far more versed that moi have expressed the same concept indirectly referencing the brilliant ER=EPR conjecture created by Leonard Susskind and Juan Maldacena in 2013.[3]

In the United States, if you want your toaster to work, you plug it into a 110V outlet. It is a standard. It is the "ID" of the transaction between the power grid and the appliance. You don't need a PhD in electrical engineering to understand the spec; you just need to know the requirements for the appliance to work.

The universe operates on the same principle, but its line voltage is 137.

The Fine-Structure Constant ($\alpha \approx 1/137) is not a mystical secret or a "God Particle" signature. It is the Universal Specification Header for the A-D/D-A transaction. It defines how the Analog Force (The "It") converts into the Digital Messenger (The "Bit"). Without this 137-ID, the transaction of light hitting matter would have no "Voltage" to resonate. 

The universe literally wouldn't plug in.

The Handshake: Because the speed is the same, the protocol header (137) is the same.

The Receipt: Buying a cup of coffee at Starbucks is a transaction. An electron absorbing a photon is a transaction. (Digital) If the Invoice doesn't match the Purchase Order at the 137-resonance, the transaction is a hallucination. Nature does not hallucinate.

John Wheeler's insightful notion of existence being an information construct (from It to Bit) makes sense as the photon, (boson), the force carrier of the electromagnetic, becomes digital by transitioning from an analog wave into discrete energy packets (quanta) when absorbed by leptons (the electron), a radical solution to the black body problem described in detail by Max Planck in 1900, thus introducing Quantum Mechanics to the world.  Prior to absorption,  photons, aka light, exist as analog waves, something readily seen by Thomas Young's brilliant 1801 double slit experiment.

Seen below are photons, comprised of analog waves, striking a metal plate. When absorbed by the metal plate's electrons, the photons transform into quanta or packets of energy (digital), able to be absorbed by the metal plates's electrons enabling said electrons to be dislodged from the plate. The higher the frequency of light, aka photons, the higher altitude the electrons attain when dislodged from the plate. When the photon is released by the electron and reenters space, it become analog.

Does the universe have an aleph? If so, 137 is a prime candidate as it's universal. It is the fine structure constant for the 3 forces traveling at the speed of light, gravitons, photons and gluons. In physics, 137-ID is the aleph. 137 is the permanent ID of the transaction between the "Infinite Now (It)" and the "Quantized Bit." It proves that the logic has a lineage. You can’t have the particle (The Bit) without the field (The It), and the 137-ID is the point where they are joined.

ER = EPR is a conjecture in physics stating that two entangled particles (a so-called Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen or EPR pair) are connected by a wormhole (or Einstein–Rosen bridge)[1][2] and is thought by some to be a basis for unifying general relativity and quantum mechanics into a theory of everything.[1]

The conjecture was proposed by Leonard Susskind and Juan Maldacena in 2013.[

So, what could cause this connect to be able to link two objects together instantaneously without regard to distance? As a total lay person not versed in math or physics in anyway, the take yours truly will take may be laughable but it's not totally crazed when one thinks about the quantum foam, a construct conceived by physicist John Wheeler to explain what space time would look like at the Planck length of 10-20 of a diameter of a proton. Seems the foam would not have space or time assigned to it as the foam is conjectured to consist of minuscule black holes winking in and out of existence at about 10-43 seconds, the time it takes for light to traverse the Planck distance of 10-20 of a diameter of a proton.

If this is the case, the question to ask is, does time exist in the quantum foam where only virtual particles issue forth and disappear according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, thus precluding any chance of time happening in the foam as "real" protons, neutrons and all the rest of the subatomic zoo appear, AFAIK, to be temporary arrangements of the quantum foam subject to varying rates of decay, thus creating the illusion of time as seen in this part of the multiverse. If this is true, then, could the act of entanglement create a link consisting of, in some weird way, a "thread" akin to a wormhole of the quantum foam, forever separate from the constraints of time or the speed of light in enabling two (or more) linked particles to instantly "talk" to one another no matter how far apart they may be. Black holes/Wormholes evaporate and explode as per Stephen Hawking's brilliant conjecture that nothing is forever save for photons, gluons and gravitons as all three are massless and travel at the speed of light. As possible proof, we may have actually seen one explode. 

As a study in the journal Nature noted last year, the neutrino was more than 100,000 times as energetic as any particle ever produced in colliders on Earth, and more energetic than astrophysicists can easily explain based on the part of the sky the neutrinos came from. But astrophysicists are trying, and some have proposed a truly ambitious explanation: This cosmic bullet came from an exploding black hole, an object so dense that not even light can escape its gravity.

In 1974, the theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking calculated that black holes leak and eventually explode, releasing energy that had been entombed for centuries in a sort of mini-replica of the Big Bang. But no one has ever seen it happen.

Reality is a transaction engine. Jonathan Wheeler's It from Bit proves this to be so.

"It from bit symbolizes the idea that every item of the physical world has at bottom — at a very deep bottom, in most instances — an immaterial source and explanation; that what we call reality arises in the last analysis from the posing of yes-no questions and the registering of equipment-evoked responses; in short, that all things physical are information-theoretic in origin and this is a participatory universe. 

What's also true is It from Bit arises whenever a black hole evaporates and explodes due to the participatory nature of existence. Also, the exact moment the transaction occurs is the blur, the infinitely thin speed of light/timeless entity enabling reality to complete the process of going from analog to digital in order to balance out the energy equation generated by the two entities in question. Think Day in the life when the rising indefinite analog pitch of the piece races to the ultimate, only to be firmly resolved by the finality of the E Major Chord for the ages.

Why timeless? Because the speed of light and the move from analog to digital demands it as S.O.L. is the both the exact blur of energy transitioning to matter, i.e. E =. MC2, and analog to digital. The vis versa bit applies because whenever an electron releases the digital photon, aka a quanta, the newly released photon, running in free space, becomes analog once again.

What is this? Being rather math challenged to the extreme, I asked Gemini to verify my explanation for the Einstein and Wheeler-DeWitt equations as I understand the first as C = light/Photon, a Boson, the force carrier particle equivalent to matter with the dividing line being the speed of light as that is the exact center point where the analog boson of light transitions into digital matter i.e. Photon transitions to a quanta to enter into the Electron. Think photoelectric effect to visualize why this is so. In effect, Einstein's equation depicts the analog to digital process from the energy side.

 

Note: Photons, gravitons and gluons travel at the speed of light.

As for Wheeler-DeWitt, it depicts the analog to digital transition as a balancing act, directly equivalent to Einstein in execution but different in application as it shows why the collapse of the wave function from analog to digital (decoherence) dissipates the energy of analog by transiting to digital. Think the E Major chord in Day in a Life - Sgt. Peppers and Yang & Yin as the two equations are complementary.

Fermat's principle, also known as the principle of least time, is the link between ray optics and wave optics. Fermat's principle states that the path taken by a ray between two given points is the path that can be traveled in the least time. The principle of least action deals with classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, particle physics, and general relativity.[1] where nature will also choose the most efficient path in going from point A to point B. Nature's lazy, never expending more energy than absolutely necessary to accomplish any given task. 0.57721 aka slippage, is also necessary as without it, existence would freeze up like a car engine without oil.

Perhaps the easiest way to think about artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning is to think of them like Russian nesting dolls. Each is essentially a component of the prior term.

That is, machine learning is a subfield of artificial intelligence. Deep learning is a subfield of machine learning, and neural networks make up the backbone of deep learning algorithms. In fact, it is the number of node layers, or depth, of neural networks that distinguishes a single neural network from a deep learning algorithm, which must have more than three.

As seen by IBM's graphic delineating the relationships of various components needed to create AI, it becomes obvious the enormous role analog plays in enabling AI to bring in data in real time as analog measures and is perfectly suited to deal with the chaos of reality while digital counts, a process requiring absolute precision in order to function. When the two are connected, the entity becomes a neural network.

Most deep neural networks are feed-forward, meaning they flow in one direction only from input to output. However, you can also train your model through backpropagation; that is, move in opposite direction from output to input. Backpropagation allows us to calculate and attribute the error associated with each neuron, allowing us to adjust and fit the algorithm appropriately.

As stated before, the NN is the analog component of AI, the prime driver as to how realtime data comes into the system ready to be analyzed in realtime by the ever evolving code residing in the hardware.

Modeled loosely on the human brain, a neural net consists of thousands or even millions of simple processing nodes that are densely interconnected. Most of today’s neural nets are organized into layers of nodes, and they’re “feed-forward,” meaning that data moves through them in only one direction. An individual node might be connected to several nodes in the layer beneath it, from which it receives data, and several nodes in the layer above it, to which it sends data.

To each of its incoming connections, a node will assign a number known as a “weight.” When the network is active, the node receives a different data item — a different number — over each of its connections and multiplies it by the associated weight. It then adds the resulting products together, yielding a single number. If that number is below a threshold value, the node passes no data to the next layer. If the number exceeds the threshold value, the node “fires,” which in today’s neural nets generally means sending the number — the sum of the weighted inputs — along all its outgoing connections.

This is why AI will never be fully understood as it takes software to write software able to cope with the realtime vagaries of the real world in realtime, something human programmers cannot do in any way, shape or fashion. 

The Dark Secret at the Heart of AI

Last year, a strange self-driving car was released onto the quiet roads of Monmouth County, New Jersey. The experimental vehicle, developed by researchers at the chip maker Nvidia, didn’t look different from other autonomous cars, but it was unlike anything demonstrated by Google, Tesla, or General Motors, and it showed the rising power of artificial intelligence. The car didn’t follow a single instruction provided by an engineer or programmer. Instead, it relied entirely on an algorithm that had taught itself to drive by watching a human do it.

Getting a car to drive this way was an impressive feat. But it’s also a bit unsettling, since it isn’t completely clear how the car makes its decisions. Information from the vehicle’s sensors goes straight into a huge network of artificial neurons that process the data and then deliver the commands required to operate the steering wheel, the brakes, and other systems. The result seems to match the responses you’d expect from a human driver. But what if one day it did something unexpected—crashed into a tree, or sat at a green light? As things stand now, it might be difficult to find out why. The system is so complicated that even the engineers who designed it may struggle to isolate the reason for any single action. And you can’t ask it: there is no obvious way to design such a system so that it could always explain why it did what it did.

If one doesn't understand how something works, how does one control the entity in question? You can't.

Yours truly discovered John Le Carre via the superb The Spy who Came in From the Cold film staring Richard Burton as Alec Leamas, a senior spy tasked with one more mission of sowing damaging disinformation about a powerful East German intelligence officer. Done in black and white with Claire Bloom and Oscar Werner as co stars, Le Carre's work depicts a world of ambiguity and betrayal played by both the east and west, a dark reality totally opposite of the faux world of James Bond, beautiful women and gadgets to kill for. In learning about this extraordinary writer, one finds his take on the world to be nuanced and realistic to a fault, something readily seen by a wonderful 2010 interview with Le Carre, conducted by Amy Goodman and Denis Moynihan of Democracy Now.

JOHN LE CARRÉ: Well, I’ve told a lot of lies about that in my time, I have to confess. I began writing when I was still in the British Foreign Service, and it was then understood that even if you wrote about butterfly collecting, you used another name. So the fact that I was in a secret department does not play a part.

Then, I think I decided that I needed three pieces to a name, that they would arrest the “I” and put an accent on the last part. Then the word carré in French has a bunch of ambiguous meanings. A balle carrée, for example, is a dance where the ladies ask the men to dance. Carré at roulette, if you put a numéro carré, you put a counter on each corner of a number. And so it goes on. And I think an homme carré is a little bit a dubious guy. That seemed to me to suit me perfectly at that time.

AMY GOODMAN: Well, in the interests of transparency, we’ll just call you David Cornwell, if that’s OK.

JOHN LE CARRÉ: Just David will do fine.

The cash nexus ...

Now, this isn’t fiction. That part of it isn’t fiction. Money laundering is simply everywhere. On the grand scale, it’s endemic to banking. You have to bear in mind that when Lehman Brothers wasn’t going to function anymore and the big banks weren’t lending to one another, back at that terrible time, $352 billion of illegal money were then tacitly released upon the market, and that was about the only money people were lending to one another. So, money laundering is not some distant fantasy. It’s actually how you handle the profits of extortion, tax evasion, criminal conspiracy and huge quantities of drug money, how you get that into the white sector. And what we are gradually learning from these little exposés that come to light is that there is almost no way of denying people, in the end, the profits of their crime, which is a tragedy. And it’s also a frightful annoyance, because we pay vast sums of money across the way here to agencies that are supposed to stop money laundering. Doesn’t happen.

The corruption of intel ...

And I suppose that if I could generalize about my work in intelligence in those days, for better or worse, we counted ourselves an elite with a very considerable responsibility: to speak truth to power, like good journalists, that whatever we came upon, however offensive it was to those in power, we told it straight. And what I fear I have seen in the run-up to the Iraq War in this country is the politicization of intelligence to fit the political intentions of our masters. And to my mind, that was a terrible moment in the history, the visible history, of intelligence work in this country, where the intelligence service itself became effectively co-author and signatory to the so-called dodgy dossier, which — on the strength of which Colin Powell was able to present a dire picture of the threat from Iraq, which turned out to be untrue.

AMY GOODMAN: — whether we’re talking The Constant Gardener, which took place in Kenya, or we’re talking The Mission Song, which took place in Congo, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

JOHN LE CARRÉ: Absolutely, yeah, yeah. Well, it’s where I have seen globalization at work on the ground. It’s a pretty ugly sight. It’s a boardroom fantasy. What it actually means is the exploitation of very cheap labor, very often the ecological disaster that comes with it, the creation of mega-cities, the depletion of agrarian cultures and tribal cultures. It’s about — the effect of globalization, again, where I have seen it, has been negative, as far as the local population is concerned. It’s enriched the very few in the country where it takes place. And it has totally dismayed the inhabitants otherwise. So, ask me what corporate power means to me, it means the ability of the individual to sacrifice his own instincts, his own decent instincts, in the name of the corporation, that people will do things to — on behalf of the corporation, to a group of people, which they would never do to their next-door neighbor, so that all the decent humanity seems to be set aside the moment they walk through the corporate doors.

So, what could cause this connect to be able to link two objects together instantaneously without regard to distance? As a total lay person not versed in math or physics in anyway, the take yours truly will take may be laughable but it's not totally crazed when one thinks about the quantum foam, a construct conceived by physicist John Wheeler to explain what space time would look like at the Planck length of 10-20 of a diameter of a proton. Seems the foam would not have space or time assigned to it as the foam is conjectured to consist of minuscule black holes winking in and out of existence at about 10-43 seconds, the time it takes for light to traverse the Planck distance of 10-20 of a diameter of a proton. Additionally, the size of the wormhole dictates it's life span and when it evaporates and possibly explodes, energy and material making up the particle zoo is injected back into the system, keeping said system to run forever.
