I saw the Dead twice, once at Newport, the other at Woodstock. Unfortunately, they were not on on either concert but this post shows just how amazing they were when they were. Mysterious, oddly Zen, excellent to a fault. Interestingly, the gig, at the Capital in Port Chester, NY was in the same building where yours truly had a wondrous 1500 square foot loft for over 11 years but sadly, said occupancy started about 5 years after the Grateful Dead concert. In any event, listen to Dark Star/Wharf Rat/Dark Star to see why the Dead, particularly in the early 70's, ruled. Enjoy.
As an aside, awesome recording. Sound board quality without a doubt. Lastly, it's a brief escape from what's happening in the world circa 2025. Best.
Ah, those were the daze. :)
